These tools are listed here because I use them and think they are worth mentioning. Trinux: This is a great Ram Disc Operating System. Trinux boots from either a floppy disc or CDROM and runs only in RAM. This is a complete security tool kit with port scanning, packet sniffing, vulnerability scanning, sniffer detection, packet construction, active/passive OS fingerprinting, network monitoring, session-hijacking, backup/recovery, computer forensics, intrusion detection, and more. This does it all! Read my practical white paper to find out about the basics. Copernic: I found this tool is great for digging deep into the Internet to find what your looking for. It comes in a free basic version for Windows or you can upgrade it for a few dollars. Hex2: This is a great hex, decimal, binary, ASCII and text converter for Windows. And it's free from OC's Computer Consulting. MWSnap: This is a neat little free screen capture utility for windows that will save in several different file formats. CONText: This is a free text editor for Windows that highlights programming key words for many different programming languages. Spybot Search and Destroy: This free utility gets rid of most annoying spyware from your system. Similar to Ad-Aware but has the added feature of 'innoculating' your system to prevent adware and spyware from being installed on your system. WIN ISO: This ISO editor allows you to make changes within an ISO. Very handy for putting together custom Trinux discs. Unfortunately you have to buy this one. Raw Write: Raw Write Allows you to take a 1.44MB Floppy disk Image and write to a floppy disk. This is required for making Trinux bootable floppies. Works for all Windows flavours.
